Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Taking Control of Your ContentAllen Zuk has an exciting new author workshop planned for the week of December 14 at a soon-to-be-announced downtown Toronto location. Taking Control of Your Content, Level I will be a full-day, hands-on session for any author who wants to learn how to set up a blog-based website. Complete walkthoughs will be provided for the following tasks:

  • configuring a domain name
  • setting up email addresses
  • creating a database
  • installing Wordpress on the server
  • installing social networking plugins
  • writing and editing posts
  • and much more!

Computers will be provided, so participants will not need to bring one, but they will need access to an internet-enabled computer later in order to manage their sites. No software needs to be purchased as site management will be done through a web browser. The workshop fee includes one year of basic web hosting, and all participants will leave the session with a live, functional blog site.

This workshop is for authors who do not currently have a website, or who have an online blog without a dedicated domain name. A basic knowledge of the web is necessary for this workshop, and all participants will have to choose and purchase a domain name before the event. Get details and sign up at Allen Zuk’s site, or sign up for the Clamour Creative Twitter feed to be notified instantly of new workshops.
